From a young age, Sarah knew she would grow up to be a teacher. Having three younger siblings and being involved in the church from the time she was born, trained her well in how to use her talents and gifts to minister to and teach others.
Sarah became a follower of Christ and was baptized at a young age. She later rededicated her life to Jesus with a greater understanding of His love and sacrifice for her at a FCA middle school lock-in.
She graduated from Chesapeake High School in Chesapeake, Ohio, where she was involved in many student organizations from FCA to seven years of concert and marching band. Sarah went on to study music and education at Morehead State University and graduated with a Bachelors in Music Education (PreK-12).
While at Morehead, Sarah was very involved in the campus BCM (Baptist Collegiate Ministries) program and even served as a small group leader, outreach team member, and Bible study leader at a local girls’ group home. It was during this time at Morehead that Sarah really grew to know the Lord as not only her Savior, but her (sometimes only) constant friend.
After graduation, she substitute taught at several schools until being blessed with her own classroom and teaching job at Covenant School. This coming school year will be Sarah’s fifth year teaching 4th grade and her third year teaching Band for 5th-12th grades at Covenant.
Sarah is a member of The Crossing Baptist Church and enjoys her Monday Night Small Group, worshipping with her church family, and teaching the children’s classes. Sarah’s favorite part of teaching is seeing “lightbulbs” come on in children’s minds when they learn something new and are able to apply it to their daily lives, especially when that “lightbulb” is a biblical truth. She loves being a part of the process of children learning Jesus’ love for each of them individually and personally and prays that she can help children apply that love to their own lives in ministry to others around them.
